In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat amongst yourselves.

It's Asexual Awareness Week, so a friendly shout out to our members who identify as Ace!

Jodie Whittaker's 13th Doctor will not have a companion in the forthcoming Season 11, she'll have three!

At 57, Bradley Walsh will become the oldest actor to be cast as a recurring Companion, with Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill being distinctly more on the youth side of the spectrum. There has been some whining from the usual portion of fans about how it's "too PC" with a white female Doctor being joined by an older white male, a young black guy and a young Asian woman, but let's leave them to their own devices. It's also a little early to judge, since the show will have a new format (10x1 hour episodes, instead of 13x45 minute ones), and a possible season long story rather than be purely episodic, and we have no idea how these three will interact with the Dcotor ("Are they all companions all the time?" being the most obvious question)... so many questions! :)

Even though a lesser man might have felt making a mess of expressing actual human emotions when speaking to the bereaved families of fallen soldiers was a full time job, the Mangled Apricot Hellbeast is also finding time to take credit for releasing a wodge of documents relating to the JFK assassination later this week, despite the fact he doesn't have much say in the matter as Congress decreed they would be released on this date back in 1992. (Still, they might make for some interesting reading, especially for conspiracy theorists.)

The revelations of sexual predations by senior figures in the entertainment business for several decades continues (To the apparent surprise of nobody other than entertainment journalists), as well it should, with even Sir Tom Jones referencing being sexually propositioned by a record executive early in his career, which he was in a position to turn down safely, and pondering how many others were not so fortunate.

Star Trek: Discovery has been renewed for a second season.

Xi Jingpin has consolidated his hold on the Chinese Communist Party and has been elevated to the same level of authority as Mao Zedong was with his approach "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era" being elevated to the status of "Thought" rather than a mere "Ideology".

LEGO Dimensions is officially finished, with no new characters or sets being released, so any vague remaining hopes that it might get it's originally planned third year are over and done with. Sigh... :( Hopefully, we now won't be tantalised with glimpses of the Year Three product the way that Disney Infinity Fans are STILL facing thanks to the sterling efforts of Disney Infiniteer who has even gotten hold of some concept work for Disney Infinity 5.0!! (Which would have been "Steamboat Willie")

Let me assure you all that this is even weirder with context.
Also, this is my entry for Halloween Theme Week.

You know, I've always had a fondness for the body swap trope, and why not? Their funny little role reversal stories, always full of endearing antics as two people fumble about in brand new bodies with brand new lives. And such a versatile plot, too? With the right combinations of characters and settings, no two swaps need ever be quite the same! So yeah, I know it's 'Halloween Theme Week' and all that, but you can't exactly make a body swap with a kid and a toddler scary, now can you? So why don't we visit a story from this innocuous little anthology comic, and see what kind of a silly and heartwarming romp we get up to?

"My friend Sam who falls down a lot (I can say that because she doesn't read my comics) once referred to me as 'shitty Bendis' and it was one of the nicest compliments anyone had given me at that point in my career." - Matthew Rosenberg

Partly because the artwork was rushed and largely inappropriate to the subject matter, but mostly because I was simply having to produce too much material in too short a time — seven scripts all at once! — and ended up putting most of my attention to the five “middle” books. Say what you like about KINGDOM #1 and #2, which aren’t great, but I genuinely feel that Offspring, Planet Krypton and Son of the Bat are as good as anything I’ve ever written or likely ever will. -- Mark Waid

Greeting my pretties,

It being the week leading up to All Hallows Eve, otherwise known as Hallowe'en, your beloved, and only slightly scary (in the right light) Mod Team, deem it a fine and fitting time for a proper Theme Week.

We've had some horror scans posted already, so our thanks to those who have contributed, but now's the time for more of you to get involved! We want your horror, we want your terror, we want your FEAR! (Ahem, sorry about that, channelling Vincent Price for a moment there)

What stories scared you? What stories made you afraid to go upstairs in the dark by yourself, or stretch your foot down to the end of the bed because of what might be lurking under the sheets? What comic story has had an image that lingered with you long after you'd closed the book?

We want to see them, we want to enjoy the frisson of thrills that horror can bring, so please do make an effort to share them with us! And use the tag - Genre: horror if you would please, so we can easily find them in the future!

As Rod Serling's words from "The Twilight Zone" put it;

"Enjoy these brief excursions into the other places ... the odd places, the strange places, the different ones.

The denizens of the Twilight Zone Scans_Daily are odd ones, indeed. They run pretty much a gamut of the most unexpected bystanders and players in life’s game . . .

You’ll see the witches, the warlocks, the elves and gnomes, the space ships and time machines.

All the odd ones and the not-quite-right ones . . . and, needless to say, we hope you’ll enjoy these tales from the strange and shadowy places .... "

Okay, at least half of that could describe scans_daily on your average Wednesday, but we want MORE!

So fly my pretties, fly, and scare the living crap out of us all!
